Orientation Day

"Like mine?" She smiled.

Travis rounded the rest of the group up. He led them all out of the sector, up three floors in an elevator, and down a hallway into a large room that looked like a lobby, with a few help desks with no one at them scattered about. They sat down, and Dante was nowhere to be seen for the moment.
"Alright." Announced Travis, as he tapped a few things into a palm pilot he produced from his back pocket. "A cleanup crew will be called to sort out the mess we had down there in the mutations lab." He tapped one more decisive time on the screen before putting it away. "So now it is time to discuss your wages."

"Such as...?"

"For that, I don't think you're in the position to be stingy."
He said, rolling his eyes.

"Do we get a bonus for what we just did, or...? I don't mean to press, this just wasn't in the job description..."

" I think it was there, along with a decent price-tag."

Jess pulls out a few papers "Nope, nothing about mutant things going rampant. I mean hell my position is supposed to be a code monkey job. Now I get the feeling I'm not even allowed to go back home at the end of the day...but hell I'd take a hospital over home right now I think I got a few broken ribs...."

"Well, there are the occasional hazards around here, but it's nothing that wasn't in the fine print of your contracts." He said, "However, we do support workers comp for serious on-the-job injuries. Anyway, I suppose there's no problem with giving you your first checks in person." He walked behind one of the desks and pulled up a payment organization screen on the computer sitting at it.
((I'll get around to actually paying you all once I'm home. I havent got time to sort it out ATM))

((Back.))
"Well," he said after crunching some numbers, "It looks like you've all accumulated a total of at least Six hundred dollars today alone, accounting for workers comp. Except for..." He scanned the recruits ans singled out Lamaar.
"You. You were never injured, so no bonuses. Good thing you have your health! You should all find the MDU's in the courtyard of the complex." He said, handing them checks. "That's monetary dispenser units. I suggest going there later, maybe check out the cafe."

PAYCHECKS! ((Cue some successful sounding music!))

He grabbed his check and stowed it until need-be.
"You got a med-ward I could get checked out? Hell, on top of that a bar would be great too..."

He went back to the desk and punched in a few keys. "The cafe serves all sorts of drinks, but if you're caught intoxicated on the job, you'll e escorted to one of the security buildings and may receive a dock in your next paycheck. Or die."
A few moments later a woman in white scrubs walked in.

"Which ones need attention?" she asked.

Jess looks at her strung out from pain barely able to stand "I took a sledgehammer to the gut...I think I'm up there on the list..."

She took Jessica and Allister's names, and then led them out of the room to the medical ward. "You'll be good as new in no time." She said to them happily as they were sat down on benches.

Meanwhile

"They'll be fine soon enough, our medical team can work wonders." Travis said. "Now, I'll take you all back out to the courtyard, and you can roam around a bit." He led them down through a few hallways and down to the ground floor to a large door. Behind the glass doors they saw a large atrium was awaiting them, this was clearly the courtyard. A few feet from the door was a large map, and a machine marked ASSIGNMENT LISTINGS.

Travis motioned them out the door and began walking back through another hallway. He stepped into an elevator and pressed a button. The machine jolted and began to descend. "Ah, new recruits." he sighed...
