Orientation Day

The future employees received their calls and letters of congratulations, and were informed where to meet. Inside the orientation room at the headquarters building lay three rows of metal chairs facing one of the whitewash walls. A high-tech projection device hung down from the ceiling in front of a steel desk and a single filing cabinet. the sign outside the door directed the recruits into the room, and one by one they began filing in. Once most had arrived, three seats in the front row and two in the second remained open. The recruits wondered when their supervisors would meet them, but agreed to wait...

An orange LED light to one side of the camera blinked on, and it remained focused for another few moments, eventually returning to its normal pattern.
A couple of the recruits noticed this, but disregarded it and went back to chatting amongst themselves.
